35 Characters

Just a quick note re: Google Adwords. At the bottom of every ad is a “display URL”. You must supply this URL when you create an ad. Furthermore, this field must be a valid URL, and refer to the advertised site. Also: it must be 35 characters or less.

Therefore, you can’t use Adwords to advertise any site with a domain name longer than 31 characters (assuming a 3-character TLD). This was a little annoying to me, since I’d just registered a 44-character domain name.

As a workaround, I registered a new, shorter (31 character) name, and am only out the registration fee for the first name. Nevertheless, what with one thing and another, I am developing a bit of a bad attitude towards Adwords.
